Reupholstering the vintage French chair..

When we were in Paris in the Spring last year I was lucky enough to come across these two beauties.  I was instantly in love and on a mission to figure out how exactly to get these home for myself.  I was pleasantly surprised by a seller who was willing to translate my need to get these chairs to our rented apartment to a wonderful delivery man, and my heart was content.  The poor guy had to carry them up 3 flights of shallow steps and then another guy carried them down a week later and loaded them into our taxi van in route to Normandie.  It was worth every minute (note that I was not actually carrying them)!

Once they arrived here in California I had no clue what I wanted to do with them, so they stayed at home with me for a bit before I finally took the plunge.  I had them upholstered in vintage linen that we had purchased while we were in France along with some of my standard linen on the back and sides.  I added tufting to the seat back to create a little more interest for me as well as exposed flat rustic nail head details at the legs.. and I love love them!

Adding a little color...

There is just something about textiles that I love..  vintage, new, colorful, textured you name it.  I pretty much love them all.  I am starting up a few new projects this week and I have been playing with fabric for the past few days.  I could not be happier!  I love how this simple space is transformed with the splashes of color each fabric adds in.  Perfection.

eames molded dining chairs

If you have seen my pinterest boards lately you will see how much I am loving the mix of traditional and modern pieces in spaces.  My latest love is the eames molded dining chair.  I cannot explain why I love it mixed with all types of things.  It is simple and fun and makes me happy!

It can go industrial, glam, modern and country..  what's not to like.
I am thinking of putting them in my kitchen nook for a fun little change, I have a problem I know!

What do you think?  Love?

Thrift Shop Find: Simple Antique Wooden Chair

I was thrilled when I spotted this wooden chair at a local thrift shop a few weeks ago.
The timing wasn't right though, and I passed it by due to lack of time and thought.
I did think about it again over the next week and or two and when I returned to that
same shop it was still there, so I grabbed it.  At $10.00 I thought it was a bargain!

I've recovered these types of seats before and they're relatively easy to do.
My tough decision now is whether or not I want to paint the wood. Hmmm.
At first I thought maybe turquoise or bright red, or even a lime (kinda neon) green.
But now that I see the how the wood is so nicely naturally worn, I'm having
second thoughts about painting it at all!

What would you do with it?

What do you think?

What would you do with this chair?

Dramatic dining..

I love the simple drama of this space.  The blank chalk board makes such a contrast from what we might normally see when they are used in decor.  The chairs and the chandelier are by far my favorite part of the otherwise simple space.

Grey in the bedroom..

We all know I love a good bedroom design... but this is a favorite.  The ceiling detail, the light, the view... need I continue.    I also just love the way the linen bedding is a soft accent to the concrete and the rougher feeling in the space.

The Bohemian Chair

I've always had a thing for chairs. I like unusual chairs, ones that are old and ornate.
I tend to gravitate towards jewel tones and luxurious velvet fabrics, styles that are

different, Bohemian. I love what is unusual and unique.

The Bohemian chair is the perfect stylish way to add color, texture, and interest to
a room. It doesn't have to be ornate or new, it only has to be interesting. Take a look
at a few Boho style chairs that caught my eye as well as my heart.
