greige in rich texture

Texture rich is an understatement for this space.  The layering of materials makes such an impact in this tone on tone space.  I love every inch and wish I had the discipline to design my own home this way! Gorgeous!

greige dining room..

Happy Monday morning my friends.  This dining room completely took my breath away.  Simple, great texture in the rug, perfect windows and that bench... Love at first sight!

Weekend wishes...

I spent a little time this week cleaning up my office to send some pictures off to an editor.. let's all keep our fingers crossed for me!  I wish is could always look like this but typically it looks like a bomb went off in my office with piles of paperwork and samples just about everywhere.  Maybe it will last the weekend?...

Some fun things you might like to get you through the weekend...

Want/Need - those are the same thing right?
Everyone seems to be planning a Spring trip this year.. I could use a tropical island right about now and this would be the perfect piece.
After our visit to Lynmar Winery last fall I have been searching for a great salted cookie recipe.. I think this one might be a keeper.
We are all in need of a great design book..  I am so looking forward to The Inspired Home: Nests of Creatives coming out on the 11th of March.

Happy March my friends!

Linen..

Vintage linen is one of my favorite items in this world.  I love the softness it has while still having great visual texture.  The color is always slightly different from one piece to the next and the piece with embroidery always amaze me.

where were at: {Seal Beach House Exteriors}

This is where we started almost a year and a half ago on this project.. It was a little worse for ware and the inside was even more interesting.  I went by the project this week and it has completely transformed.  My inspiration for the exterior was a winery we visited several years ago in Canada, travel is an amazing gift of inspiration for designers, I always remind my accountant of that.  We removed the strange brick wall across the front entrance of the house and opened it up with windows and french doors.  We also replaced the windows on the face of the garage with faux doors and gave the entire exterior some wide plank siding.  I am so happy with the transformation.  There is still so much to do with the landscaping and finishing touches but it is coming along really well.

I will share the interiors on this project soon- I cannot wait to show you how far that has come!

Please excuse the weird light from my phone...

greige mountain retreat...

I am completely in love with this entire home.  The soft colors and textures in the spaces are perfection.  Clean, simple and  sophisticated.  I could see myself relaxing here for sure.  You?

Weekend wishes...

Hello.. sorry for the late post!  I spent the better part of my day digging through boxes and sorting out accessories, I am selling at Irvine on Sunday morning and have so many little things that have accumulated here and there.  I needed to get them gathered together so I could do one big clean out and sell.  If you are in the area you should stop by and see us!

Aside from that our vacation time is coming to an end and I am a little sad about it to be honest.  I love having the kids here just hanging out and relaxing a bit. We have moved on from the Christmas decor and I think celebrated the last of the holiday birthdays so it is time for cleaning out and organizing and maybe picking up those little things that were on the list but did not make it under the tree...

I ordered up a pair of these jeans which I have been trying to find for months!
Trying this even if it means I cannot fit into said jeans..
I have been adding new items to the shop and I want want this rug for myself!
I just picked up this little book too... I have to get started on that list you know.

Wishing you a wonderful weekend!

Be Inspired...

As it is the New Year I assume it is time to get on with the New ideas and the plans for the coming year.  Do you make resolutions?  Do you make goals? Aspirations?  I am not really a fan of the resolution only because it is not always the best idea to make extreme changes.  Subtle changes seem to work better for me...

This year I have some plans but nothing is concrete I have some things I have been wanting to do and so I suppose I should be getting to them.

Last year I wanted to read 50 books and I am so excited to tell you that I surpassed that goal and I plan on getting to just about that many this year, along with the idea I shared around my birthday to cook for my family more.  I find that is always good to reflect a little on what we did accomplish before making a new list - this always makes me feel better about myself.

There are a couple of things that I checked off of my life's to do list in 2013.  We shopped in Paris and France and shipped back a container (check), we put in a pool at our home (check), we traveled (check),  I am sure there is more but I am at a loss.. see things elude me so quickly.

For this year I plan on digging into that list a little as I have a special birthday coming up and want to celebrate it in style.

  1. Travel - always on my list!  I want to travel a bit in the US this year, there are so many amazing cities here that I have never been to..  New Orleans, Charleston, Atlanta (well I have been there but just for a show).  We have light plans to hit up Montana and Corsica (I know this is not in the states but it is on this years list as I have always wanted to go).
  2. Spend more quality time with my fam.. they make me laugh and smile I am going to soak it all up!
  3. Expand a bit on the blog, I hope to do more original pieces and content here on the blog, share more before and afters on my projects with you.  I love sharing inspirational spaces with you and want to keep giving you something to come back for.
  4. Expand in the shop, there are so many amazing pieces that I see and I need to share with you and my clients, I want to add all of these wonderful options to the shop.
  5. Enjoy the design process and let go of some of the responsibility so I really can REALLY enjoy it.  Possibly buy a real delivery truck and rework my office space to suit having more bodies in here working.
  6. Focus!  I am trying hard to not get distracted and hope to make a better effort in 2014 to make it actually happen.  With all of the technology it is so easy to get distracted and move onto another task before you even realize that one has been left undone.
  7.  Be kind.. I am going to do my best to go out of my way to be kind to others, no matter what.
I would love to hear what you are up to for the New Year...  any aspirations?

Celebrating 2013 {part two}

"We spend January 1 walking through our lives, room by room, drawing up a list of work to be done, cracks to be patched. Maybe this year, to balance the list, we ought to walk through the rooms of our lives... not looking for flaws, but for potential."   Ellen Goodman
