Design inspiration {the musket room}

 

Just a short time ago I came across a photo of the this beautiful space and just last night I came upon another, only this time it had some additional information..  The Musket Room in Manhattan is gorgeous!  I am so excited to use this space as inspiration for a new commercial space I am starting on.  It is amazing with the use of texture and light.  Perfectly perfect if I don't say so myself!

One glimpse at this beautiful French home and I was smitten.  A perfectly wonderful mix of old and older makes it so special.    The mirrors and stone alone are just the right amount of sparkle and rough texture.  The result is a casual luxe that we dream about.

One garden mystery I love is what will come back year after year.. somethings are planted and never return but my favorites are the ones that keep coming back and surprising me each year.  It is like opening a door to a beautiful space that is always changing.  

I hope you have a wonderful weekend planned.  We have nothing planned which is the most wonderful thing of all I think.  This way I can take my time in the morning thinking of things to do while I day dream...

garden dreams..

 

I have been day dreaming about a well kept garden for the past week.  We have begun our latest project here and all of the trees are gone and a giant hole is dug in the back.  We will be adding new and planting what seems like a uncountable number of shrubs and flowers eventually but for now I am so sad to miss the joy of a beautiful Spring...  This mature space seems so tranquil!

Why is it if we just hide away our to do list is still waiting there when we return?  I wish to hide away here for a few days and come back to everything already taken care of!  Is anyone going to come with me?

A little of this...

 

These days seem to be so busy.. which is really great but oh my is it tiring!  Yesterday we filled our need for textiles down at the design center and I cannot wait to dig in and create some great things today.  You can keep up with us @greigedesign if you like.  

I love this pic- love the high stone base that they have in there it is a great contrast to the clean plaster on the wall and the gorgeous mirror above.

Pool side...

 

We have spent the last few days trying to iron out details of pool side design, pool shapes and various other needs for our upcoming changes here.  This is much harder than I thought!  There is so much inspiration and so much I do not know about landscape and hard scape design.  The image above is one of my favorites... we are going to do a structure (because I am not allowed to have a pool house) similar to this at the end of the pool!  Yay!  Now to go through the 1 million items to prepare and to look forward to warmer days ahead...

Texture and Lignt..

 

Is this not an amazing space?  I love the texture of the brick with the curved lines over the windows.  Such a wonderful detail.  The fresh clean lines of the furnishings are a great way to offset the rustic ceiling in the space.
