My Favorite Of The Bunch: Brown & Pink English Transferware Necklace

Yesterday I showed you the cut out shapes of jewelry that I've been working on
this week, and said how the brown with the pink rose was my favorite. Well I love
it even more now and if it doesn't sell right away I just might keep it for myself!
Well I guess I could always make another like it...

Eye Candy: New Broken China Jewerly

I started taking some photos of my jewelry with my iphone5 instead of with my digital
camera, and I've been really happy with the results. I use a few different photo edit apps
to do much of the editing of each photo right on my phone before I even get them up on my
computer screen. In any case, I took all of the photos below with my phone today. I did most
of them on a window sill with indirect sunlight, and a few with a little sun.

Antique Teal English Transferware With Irises

I loved this antique teal English transferware with iris pattern so much that I used it
for one of the projects in my new book, BoHo Chic Jewelry. Over the years I've looked
for iris floral patterns on china, but I've found them to be a bit rare. You don't come
across iris patterned china very often!

Peek Inside My Studio: Broken China Statement Necklace

Take a peek inside my studio...

I love Flow Blue china, and I love Art Nouveau, so I was thrilled when I came across
a few of these age-damaged plates a few years ago. I knew they would be perfect to
turn into some beautiful jewelry.

Because the floral motif pattern on this china dinner plate is large, I knew it would be
best suited to be made into a larger piece of jewelry - so I made this large statement
necklace. The shorter chain allows the necklace to sit right at the base of the throat,
and it is an eye-catching piece for sure!

I had the three huge tear-shaped pearls set aside for a while, just waiting
for the perfect design to come along. After I made the china part of this necklace I
knew right away that this was going to be their home. I love the way it turned out!

Necklace Made From An Antique 1909 Calendar Plate

Broken China Jewelry necklace June 1909 antique calendar plate pink roses

This necklace was once a calendar plate...
...Celebrating the year 1909

In 1909:
 Construction on the Titanic began...
The first men reached the North Pole...
Indianapolis Motor Speedway opened...

In 1909 these things had not yet been invented:
Band-aids, sunglasses, penicillin, zippers, traffic lights.

The average worker earned between $200 to $400 a year.

A Sneak Peek At What's Coming For The Holidays

Here's a glimpse of a few more of the china patterns that I will be transforming
into necklaces and pendants. I hope to have these up in my Etsy shop within a few
weeks. I had better get to work!

I love the trees! ...and the blue roses!
