Autumn At Your Doorstep: Decorating Porches & Entryways For Fall

Fall is here and it's time for pumpkins and mums!
It's easy to create a welcoming entryway to your home for autumn, and you
don't have to spend a fortune in the process. Natural themed elements are the
way to go: pumpkins, mums, cornstalks, rustic baskets and hay bales are all
great ideas for things you can use to decorate your porch or doorway. Check
out these inspirational autumn porch images and be inspired!

Beautiful Painted & Decoupaged Pumpkins

Who doesn't love decorating with pumpkins in autumn and of course for Halloween?
How about trying something new this year? Instead of carving a pumpkin,
try painting or decoupaging it instead.

The basic decoupage supplies that you will need are: decoupage
medium (Mod Podge is commonly the chosen decoupage medium of the masses),
a wide brush or sponge brush to apply the decoupage medium, and of course you
will need whatever material you plan on applying to your pumpkin. Some ideas
include: paper party or guest napkins, lightweight material scraps, paper images,
sheet music, and tissue paper.

For painted pumpkins, you can use a variety of different types of paint, from basic
household spray paint (please follow the manufacturer's instructions for use and
work in a well-ventilated area, such as outside), to acrylic craft paint. Check out a
few of my favorite painted and decoupaged decorate pumpkin inspirations
below and maybe you'll be inspired to create a unique pumpkin too!

Everything You Ever Wanted To Know About Candy Corn But Were Afraid To Ask

I am going to admit up front that I've never been a huge fan of candy corn.
But it's always there.

Each time autumn arrives, candy corn is sure to follow!

My own opinion of candy corn was most likely formed as a child. When Halloween
and Trick or Treat came around, most friends had their favorites that they
hoped to get on Trick or Treat night. Reese's, Snickers...my personal favorite were
those B-B-Bats of taffy that came in chocolate, strawberry,
peanut butter and my favorite: banana (remember these?)

In any case, I don't think I ever heard any of my friends or classmates exclaim,
"I hope I get a lot of candy corn!"
It just never happened.

But candy corn is traditional.

It has become part of our culture and it is expected.
And it doesn't taste bad!

Did you know that October 30th is National Candy Corn Day?

Now you do.

According to TLC's article "What is candy corn and how is it made?" by Stephanie Watson,

"Candy corn is a sweet replicate of dried corn kernels. It's considered "mellow cream,"
a name for a type of candy made from corn syrup and sugar that has a marshmallow-like
flavor. although candy corn tastes rich, it's actually fat-free."
