Sweden celebrates

Today is the Swedish National day. In 1523, on the 6th of June, Gustav Vasa was crowned King of Sweden. He freed Sweden from the Kalmar Union with Denmark, steered the Swedish break with the Catholic Church and founded Swedens inherited monarchy.

In 1809 they changed the day from Swedish flag day to Swedish National day. Its not quite the same as Norway, but still; they try.

Happy day to you, Sweden!

A Princess for Sweden

Early this morning a brand new Princess was born, totally unaware of the big job that awaits her in the future. May she fly high.

Congratulations, Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel!

This morning

I havent slept at all tonight. And strangely, Im not yet tired. So at five oclock I woke R and we had breakfast together before he went to work. Just after, this image appeared outside our dining room window and I had to show you. It gives peace to the soul!

Have a wonderful day, all of you. I can feel this is a good one.

Spring

The first photo shows our area only three weeks ago, all white. The others I took today, all green. Amazing it has exploded. One day it was winter and two days later, the summer is nearly here. Yesterday it was 30 degrees (Celsius) in the sun and I have a nice red colour already.

I hope you had a happy Easter, we certainly did!

White white white

Three months of constant white (seriously). Last year the snow came in the middle of December and stayed till March. This year it was the middle of November. Will it be October next year? Im starting to long for Spring!

Sometimes you get lucky

Last night it fell about five cm of snow. Now, if the temperature doesnt rise too much it will still be there this afternoon which would be perfect since Lisebergs Christmas Market is on tonights agenda.

Five million lights and 700 Christmas trees greet you when you walk in the entrance to Liseberg Christmas Market in Gothenburg. This year Christmas at Liseberg celebrates its ten year anniversary and is more popular than ever.

Northern Europes largest Christmas Market offers, in addition to all the traditional attractions; buildings dated from the 18th century, about 80 rustic stalls brim with traditional handicrafts and seasonal Swedish treats, reindeer and ice skating. And of course, the restaurants serve Christmas delicacies.

The design and craft market offers an enviable selection of gifts from famous names such as Iittala, Georg Jensen, the Kingdom of Crystal (including Orrefors and Kosta Boda) and Lammhults furniture. In the Lapland area you can buy unique Sami handicrafts and see the reindeer. You can visit Liseberg Ice Gallery & Bar, the interior of which is sculpted entirely from ice from the Torne river.

Christmas at Liseberg is open from mid November to 23 December.
