Filled Under:

Away we go!

Funny how much our decorating tastes change as we age and change, I know mine have. In my twenties it was Asian style inspired by a piece of fabric, in my thirties it was traditional once I had become a real adult. In my forties it was country due to the fact we had purchased an 18th century rambling house in the country. Now that Im about to embark on a whole new decade, which makes me cringe and creak a little, I find my tastes changing once again. Now Im leaning toward European objects that are old, centuries old, with a crusty edge. I want things to be authentic, well, as authentic as my pocketbook will allow and I like big, oversized objects that have clean lines, simple but elegant things.

Who of us doesnt love stuff? Things? Objects? Its innate, we cant help but to gather, if we dont collect and decorate with objects then all we really have is an empty room. Once I reached my forties the clutter had to go but once again its slowly creeping back in to decorate the corners of my world.

As we, my husband and I, go about renovating our old farmhouse I thought Id start a blog to ponder out loud. Have you ever noticed how much easier a project is when talked about with others? While Ive done design work for others, working with my own home is always so difficult, perhaps because it isnt all about me and Im too personally involved. So as I go about trying to decorate my home I hope youll follow along. I hope you enjoy and I look forward to many new friends~
